A 42-year-old El Do­ra­do man was shot and killed by po­lice on Sat­ur­day af­ter al­leged­ly at­tack­ing an of­fi­cer dur­ing a do­mes­tic vi­o­lence re­sponse.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to a re­port around 1:30 p.m. at Lovers Lane, El Do­ra­do. On ar­rival, they heard screams com­ing from in­side the house, but calls for some­one to open the door went unan­swered.

Led by Cpl Per­sad, the of­fi­cers breached a side door and en­tered. In­side, they found Mustapha Rawl­ins as­sault­ing a fe­male rel­a­tive. Po­lice said Rawl­ins then turned on Per­sad and stabbed him, prompt­ing the oth­er of­fi­cers to open fire.
