Police are investigating a report in which a woman alleges that a quantity of her jewellery was pawned without her consent after it was sent for cleaning.
The woman, of Tedd Street, Arima, told police that on October 16 she took several gold items to a jeweller she had known for approximately 20 years to be cleaned. The items included a gold bera valued at $10,000, a gold chain worth $3,500, and two pairs of gold earrings valued at $1,500.
The jewellery was taken to the jeweller’s workplace, which is also his residence, along the Eastern Main Road in D’Abadie, Arima.
