REGIONAL security consultant Dr Garvin Heerah said reported threats made against Members of Parliament represented a direct challenge to State authority, democratic stability and public confidence in governance in Trinidad and Tobago.

He was speaking with the Express yesterday and responding to the disclosure by Attorney General John Jeremie in Parliament on Wednesday that several Government officials had to be placed under higher protection following a threat by a gang member. The incident was confirmed by Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro.
