Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles has raised serious concerns over the proposed Zones of Special Operations ZOSO, now under debate in Parliament, questioning the data being used to justify the selection of affected communities.
Speaking to members of the media outside Parliament ahead of the debate, Beckles asked what evidence informed the Government’s decision. She argued that the public has not been told how areas are being chosen.
“Tell us what is your data. If you are saying you have had a state of emergency and now crime is down, how is it that you still want to have this ZOSO,” she said. “We are expecting that they are going to produce the kind of data that has obviously influenced their decision making.”
