Minister Benjamin mourns uncle killed in violent attack

Moru­ga/Table­land MP Michelle Ben­jamin is mourn­ing the death of her un­cle, Mar­vin Hamil­ton, who was mur­dered in what she de­scribed as a “sense­less act of vi­o­lence”.

In a Face­book post ti­tled “Gone to Soon,” the Min­is­ter of Cul­ture and Com­mu­ni­ty De­vel­op­ment said she re­ceived the trag­ic news ear­ly yes­ter­day morn­ing and was still strug­gling to un­der­stand the loss late in­to the night.

“Got the call since 7 a.m., and even now, at 10:00 p.m., I’m still ask­ing my­self why. Why was my un­cle mur­dered? Why does an­oth­er fam­i­ly have to en­dure this kind of pain?” she wrote.
