THE Ministry of Defence has initiated a formal investigation following claims by Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, that an armed group of men had attempted to enter Venezuela from Trinidad and Tobago.

In a statement issued yesterday, the ministry, led by Minister Wayne Sturge, confirmed that it is aware of reports concerning the alleged infiltration of Venezuelan territory by Colombian paramilitary groups via Trinidad and Tobago.
