The Defence Ministry has launched a comprehensive investigation into allegations by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro of the infiltration of Colombian paramilitary groups into eastern Venezuela through Trinidad and Tobago.
The Ministry in a release Wednesday stated that it was aware of recent reports and an investigation was launched in response.
"Preliminary findings indicate that there is currently no evidence to support these allegations. However, the Ministry is taking immediate and decisive steps to address the matter with the utmost seriousness and urgency," the release stated.
