Three people were robbed at gunpoint and a car stolen during a violent incident along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway Extension on Tuesday night.
Police said around 7:10 p.m., the 20-year-old driver was operating his black Hyundai Ioniq, registration PDS 2588, on the Port of Spain–San Juan route when he stopped near New City Mall to pick up passengers. Two women as well as two male suspects, entered the vehicle.
As the driver headed east, one of the men seated at the back placed him in a headlock, pressed what appeared to be a firearm against his head, and ordered him to stop near the Ministry of Works compound. The suspects then demanded valuables from all three occupants.
