A 22-year-old man appeared before the South Arima Court on Tuesday charged with attempted rape and choking with intent.
The accused was granted bail in the sum of $75,000 with a surety and ordered to reside at his Barrackpore home until his next court date on April 21.
The charges stem from an incident reported on March 20 in the Barrackpore district. According to police reports, the female victim was at the lower level of her home when the suspect approached from behind, covered her mouth, and began choking her. He reportedly dragged her toward the rear of the premises, fondled her, and attempted to engage in sexual activity against her will.
