140 jobs to go

The Transport and Industrial Workers Union (TIWU) says 187 employees of Massy Cat are facing retrenchment as Massy transitions its Caterpillar business to Machinery Corporation Motors Ltd (MACORP).

Massy, however, said last evening the final number of affected employees had not yet been determined but at least 25% of the final number of affected employees would be retained within the Group.

Based on TIWU’s figure of 187 affected employees, at least 47 would be expected to be retained within the Massy Group if that number remains the final total, leaving about 140 employees potentially affected by the retrenchment.
