Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) members were last night searching for a missing seaman who was part of a search and rescue operation that turned tragic early yesterday morning off the waters of Trinidad and Tobago.
Able Seaman (AB) K Simon was part of a Coast Guard crew involved in intercepting a vessel which sources disclosed was a semi-submersible or low-profile vessel (lpv), also known as a “narco sub”, operated by several Colombian nationals transporting a large shipment of illegal drugs.
A senior Coast Guard source familiar with the operations said Simon boarded the intercepted vessel and helped its crew members get on board the TTCG vessel.
