The 53-year-old man who was detained after autistic 15-year-old Malini Persad went missing, has been found dead in a police cell.

Avinash Kotai was found hanging from a noose fashion from his clothing at the Barrackpore police station around 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Kotai, who is from Barrackpore, was held on Wednesday by police officers. He was being detained at the police station and was discovered unresponsive when officers checked on him on Saturday, police said.
