A Mt Hope man car­ried out a cit­i­zen’s ar­rest on Sun­day af­ter he man­aged to wres­tle away the gun from an armed in­trud­er and con­tact the po­lice while hold­ing the sus­pect, who is 46 years younger than him, at gun­point.

Po­lice said the 68-year-old pen­sion­er was in his kitchen around 12.45 pm on No­vem­ber 16 when he saw the 22-year-old sus­pect en­ter­ing the premis­es via the front door.

The in­trud­er or­dered the home­own­er to lie on the floor, but the vic­tim re­sist­ed and in­stead rushed to­wards the sus­pect and grabbed the gun.
