A 22-YEAR-OLD British national was arrested at Piarco International Airport on Sunday after officers of the Customs and Excise Division discovered almost $6 million worth of marijuana concealed in luggage during passenger clearance operations.
According to a release from the Customs and Excise Division, customs officers referred the passenger to the Red Line for further examination during routine operations at the airport.
During the search, officers found a quantity of plant-like material hidden inside the passenger's baggage. Officers attached to the Preventive Branch were contacted and responded to the scene, where field tests confirmed the substance was marijuana.
