A 52-year-old man was robbed of $85,800 while conducting a cryptocurrency transaction in Trincity on Saturday evening.
According to police, the victim of Manihill Gardens, Arouca, reported to the Arouca Police Station that he had arranged to meet a business associate, a 33-year-old man of Belmont, at the car park of Superpharm on Trincity Central Road. He handed over a black bag containing the cash to purchase cryptocurrency when two men, dressed in hoodies and armed with firearms, approached the vehicle.
The suspects demanded the cash and the men’s cell phones before fleeing in a waiting vehicle.
