‘Audiogate’ searches unlawful, High Court rules

TOBAGO House of Assembly (THA) Secretary for Tourism, Antiquities and Creative Industries Zorisha Hackett said she felt vindicated after the High Court ruled that search warrants executed at her home and the Division of Education, Research and Technology during the so-called audiogate investigation were unlawful.

In a social media post, Hackett said the ruling brought an end to a legal battle that had continued since 2023, when police searched two properties associated with her and the Division of Education, Research and Technology as part of the investigation.

“I feel vindicated and relieved from what I can only categorise as high-handedness, victimisation and State overreach in furtherance of what can only be described as political ends,” Hackett said.
