THE High Court has ruled that the police search of Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Deputy Chief Secretary Dr Faith Brebnor’s home in July 2023 was unlawful, finding that the warrant allowing the search was issued based on “defective information” and lacked any reasonable justification.
Justice Frank Seepersad, in delivering judgement on Monday, found that the search warrant executed at Brebnor’s Belle Garden residence was premised on unfounded allegations and political mischaracterisations.
The warrant claimed that Brebnor was suspected of being employed by the THA to carry out a propaganda campaign using State funds, a position the court determined was “patently false”.
