Nine detainees held under Preventive Detention Orders (PDOs), along with two prison officers, have been charged with multiple offences after a major contraband search at two prison facilities on Friday.
Police said the charges arose from a Prisoner Processing Exercise conducted on July 24 at the Eastern Correctional Rehabilitation Centre and the Extended Remand Facility.
Prison officers Gary Gour and Damien Johnson were each charged with possession of prohibited articles following legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The charges were laid by Cpl Williams and WPC Joseph of the DCP Operations Team.
