THE road has been cleared for a showdown at the polls at the January 12, 2026, Tobago House of Assembly (THA) election.

The Parliament yesterday approved the Draft Elections and Boundaries Commission (Local Government and Tobago House of Assembly) (Tobago) Order, 2025, which was brought to the House by Minister of Rural Development and Local Government Khadijah Ameen.

The draft order would allow the writ to be issued for the election in accordance with the date set by the Chief Secretary upon dissolution of the THA.
