THE battle for control of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) kicks off today, as election candidates begin filing their nomination papers on the sister island.
On January 12, 2026, Tobagonians will decide whether THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine and the Tobago People’s Party (TPP) will secure its lion’s share on 14 of the 15 electoral seats, whether the People’s National Movement (PNM) will make a comeback, or whether other political entities will win favour.
Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) Chief Election Officer Fern Narcis-Scope, responding to questions from the Express yesterday, said the EBC is fully prepared to receive and process nomination papers from prospective candidates on nomination day today, in accordance with the provisions of the Representation of the People Act.
