Over 600 pounds of plastic bottles and styrofoam containers were removed from drains along the Chaguanas Main Road on Monday — just one week after the same drains had been cleaned.
Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed, in a social media post, highlighted the work of the Chaguanas Borough Corporation’s (CBC) underground maintenance team, who extracted the waste from drains near the Chaguanas Market.
The shocking quantity of plastic waste quickly drew public attention online, where comments condemned the habitual littering that led to the mess.
