Sixteen drivers were issued fixed penalty notices during a speed enforcement operation on Thursday, as police continue to warn motorists about the heightened risks of driving in wet conditions.
The exercise, conducted by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), took place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. along the northbound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, near the Indian Trail overpass. All 16 tickets were for exceeding the speed limit.
The TTPS says the operation is part of its ongoing efforts to address a recent rise in road traffic fatalities, coinciding with the start of the rainy season.
