Fifty-five motorists were ticketed for speeding and two arrested for driving under the influence during road traffic exercises conducted by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch (THPB) between Thursday and Saturday.
In total, officers issued 114 Electronic Fixed Penalty Notices (EFPNs) during operations on the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, Beetham Highway, Uriah Butler Highway, and Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway.
The THPB is warning drivers that reckless behaviour, particularly speeding during the rainy season, poses a serious threat to life and safety. “Speeding is dangerous, but speeding on wet roads during the rainy season is fatal,” the Branch said in a release.
