The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service says inmate Jamal Joseph, who escaped from the Carrera Convict Prison on November 14, has been recaptured after a coordinated response involving police officers and the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service.
Police said officers from the Carenage Police Station received information around 3 p.m. yesterday from prison personnel that the inmate had been seen along the Western Main Road, near Tembladora Park. Officers on mobile patrol responded and met prison officers already on the scene.
According to reports, a prison officer was driving south along the Western Main Road around 2.30 p.m. when he noticed an unusual object in the water. On checking, he realised it was the missing inmate, who appeared to have suffered multiple injuries during his escape.
