Outage Hits Communities Across Trinidad After Generator Trips At IPP

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission confirms that several communities across Trinidad experienced an outage at 4:45 a.m. this morning, Tuesday, October 27, 2026. The outage stemmed from two (2) generator trips at one of the Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

The affected areas included:

Piarco, St. Augustine, Caroni, Valsayn, Chaguanas, Manzanilla, Freeport, Port of Spain, Biche, Craignish, Brickfield, Sangre Grande, Trincity, Fyzabad, Arouca, Charlieville, Cunupia, Orange Grove, Sea Lots, Chaguaramas, Rio Claro, Longdenville and Malabar.
