(Kaieteur News) – The Ministry of Public Works will begin remedial works on Monday, July 13, 2026, on the southern carriageway of the Rupert Craig Highway, between Ogle and the University of Guyana Road in Cummings Lodge, a stretch that has been experiencing structural deterioration.
In a notice posted on its Facebook page, the ministry said the surface scaling is a natural result of the road’s age, heavy daily traffic, and general wear over time.
The ministry noted that similar remedial works were previously carried out along the northern carriageway, from Sparendaam to Liliendaal, to address the same kind of age-related deterioration, and that those repairs were successful.
