The nation’s major religions—Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, as well as Orisha—were united in song yesterday during the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
The rendition, delivered by vocalist Neval Chatelal at President’s House, Port of Spain, praised the Hindu god Shiva; Jesus Christ; Allah; and the Orishas.
Chatelal, who performed following Persad-Bissessar’s inaugural address, described the presentation as a chant, which he had put together for the occasion.
