WORKERS employed with the Carnival edition of the National Programme for Upkeep of Public Spaces (NPUPS) are being warned not to drink on the job.
That warning came from Minister of Rural Development and Local Government Khadijah Ameen, who met with some of the workers during a walkabout at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain yesterday. Accompanying Ameen was the ministry’s permanent secretary, Stephen Boodhram. They also visited Adam Smith Square, Ariapita Avenue and the Hasely Crawford Stadium, where workers had started their maintenance and clean-up efforts in preparation for the upcoming Carnival festivities.
After finalising that more garbage bags and visibility vests will be provided to the workers, Ameen reminded them: “We working; we not playing mas. Everybody will be jumping up.”
