The DeÂpartÂment of JusÂtice (DOJ) says a man from the state of ColÂorado. was senÂtenced on FriÂday to 210 years in prison for sexÂuÂalÂly abusÂing sevÂerÂal chilÂdren at the orÂphanÂage he foundÂed and diÂrectÂed in Haiti.
AcÂcordÂing to court docÂuÂments and evÂiÂdence preÂsentÂed at triÂal, Michael Karl GeilenÂfeld, 73, most reÂcentÂly of LitÂtleÂton, ColÂorado, foundÂed St. Joseph’s Home for Boys — a home for orÂphaned, imÂpovÂerÂished, and othÂerÂwise vulÂnerÂaÂble chilÂdren in Haiti — in 1985 and opÂerÂatÂed it for more than two decades.
DurÂing this time, the DOJ said GeilenÂfeld reÂpeatÂedÂly travÂeled from the UnitÂed States to Haiti, “where he sexÂuÂalÂly abused the boys enÂtrustÂed to his care.:
