THE Peopleâs National Movement (PNM) has condemned the Governmentâs imposition of what it described as an âinheritance taxâ on Housing Development Corporation (HDC) properties, stating yesterday that the new fee impacts among the most vulnerable in society.
The Opposition, in a release, called on Housing Minister Dr David Lee to resign, claiming a âtotal collapse of oversightâ at the Ministry of Housing, and asserted that the additional tax was implemented by âstealthâ.
The measure was the Governmentâs âlatest betrayal of the people of Trinidad and Tobagoâ, through the âimposition of what is, in substance and effect, an inheritance tax on HDC homeowners, disguised as an administrative fee and imposed without consultation, transparency or lawful authorityâ.
