Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander yesterday denied claims that he met with incarcerated gang figures inappropriately, saying he has seen documents from the media but no “official documents” validating the allegations.
Speaking on the TV6 Morning Edition programme yesterday, he defended his actions, describing them as being done on police advice and under legal procedure.
Alexander’s remarks came in response to a letter by attorneys for prison supervisor Garth Guada, who is currently detained under a preventive detention order. Guada’s legal team alleges that Alexander met with gang leaders while he served in the police service, and that those meetings influenced the decision to detain him (Guada).
