(Kaieteur News) – Canadian mining company Mako Mining Corp. is anticipating approval for its final Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for its Eagle Mountain Gold Project in Guyana shortly after submitting a revised document in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The Eagle Mountain Gold Project is located in Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni). The Eagle Mountain Prospecting Licence (EMPL), covers approximately 48 square kilometres (km²). The project has two gold deposits, the Eagle Mountain and Salbora, as well as several other exploration targets.
Mako said in early October the Guyana Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) provided their comments on the draft ESIA, identifying areas requiring additional detail or clarification. “The company and lead ESIA consultants expect to submit the final ESIA in the fourth quarter of 2026 with approval shortly thereafter,” Mako said.
