(Kaieteur News) – Guyana’s mining properties have been at the centre of nine transactions involving foreign companies between February and October 2026, with deals covering gold projects across Regions Seven, One and Nine.
The transactions, ranging in value from US$100,000 to US$2.2 billion, involve the sale of mining assets and ownership transfers that give foreign firms the opportunity to acquire majority interests in gold projects in Guyana. Not all of the transactions involve outright cash payments, as some agreements are structured through the issuance of company shares, while others include option agreements, and additional consideration tied to specific conditions.
A review of announcements made in 2026 shows that while some agreements involve newcomers to Guyana’s mining industry, others involve companies that have already acquired gold projects in the country and are seeking to expand their footprint in the sector amid high gold prices.
