Just days before her 76th birthday, Barrackpore pensioner Tara Bridgemohan was choked to death after intruders broke into her home, tied her up and ransacked the house before escaping with cash and jewelry.
Instead of celebrating with the matriarch of the family on July 1, Bridgemohan's family were in mourning, awaiting the results of her post-mortem and preparing for her funeral scheduled for Thursday.
The elderly woman was found dead in a bedroom of her Hassanali Trace home by her relatives shortly after 1.30 a.m. on June 27.
