Two Barrackpore women, aged 52 and 22, were tied up and beaten by blade-wielding assailants in a home invasion on August 5.
Reports said three men entered the home and announced a robbery and demanded jewellery. They tied the 52-year-old with duct tape and forced her head down on the bedroom floor and struck her several times in the head before ransacking the room.
The bandits then went upstairs, where the 22-year-old was in her bedroom. They also tied her feet, hands and covered her mouth with duct tape before beating her and forcing her onto the bed. They demanded jewellery and began ransacking the room.
