Six firefighters attached to the Guyana Fire Service (GFS) are now certified to operate Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly called drones, after completing a specialised Drone Operations Training Programme.
The certificates were presented during a small but significant closing ceremony in the Boardroom at GFS Headquarters, Homestretch Avenue, Georgetown.
The programme forms part of the Service’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its operational capabilities through the use of modern technology. During the training, participants were exposed to key areas including hazard assessment, aerial reconnaissance, incident monitoring, and thermal imaging.
