(Kaieteur News) – APNU Member of Parliament Ganesh Mahipaul is demanding immediate answers from the government regarding the recovery of the capsized MV Barima, more than a week after the deadline for expressions of interest passed.
Ten days after the close of the Expression of Interest (EOI) period published by the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD), Mahipaul called on the administration to explain the delay surrounding one of the most tragic maritime incidents in Guyana’s modern history, which claimed more than 100 lives.
In a public statement on Monday, Mahipaul accused the government of remaining silent and showing indifference towards the victims’ families, who continue to seek answers and closure.
