Po­lice are prob­ing the as­sault and rob­bery of a 48-year-old de­liv­ery­man as he off loaded goods on­to a mi­ni-mart in San­ta Cruz on Mon­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said the man vis­it­ed Lynch Av­enue, Pi­p­i­ol Road, at around 1.30 pm to make de­liv­er­ies when he was ap­proached by two ban­dits who pulled him out of the truck and on­to the ground be­fore de­mand­ing cash.

The de­liv­ery­man hand­ed over $900 which rep­re­sent­ed the day’s sales as he was pis­tol-whipped by one of the ban­dits. The ban­dits al­so stole a black bag con­tain­ing $17,500 which was hid­den in­side the truck, be­fore run­ning away.
