Police are investigating two violent attacks in Santa Cruz on Sunday evening, where two delivery drivers were targeted by armed men along El Perico Road, Gasparillo Road.
In the first incident, around 6:30 p.m., a 41-year-old driver was shot in the abdomen while attempting to flee an armed robbery. He had arrived at the location in his Hyundai H100 to transport goods when two men, one with a firearm, announced a hold-up. Fearing for his life, he attempted to reverse but was shot. Despite his injuries, he managed to drive himself to Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, where he is awaiting surgery. Investigators have yet to locate the crime scene or gather CCTV footage.
Less than half an hour later, at 6:10 p.m., another driver arrived at the same location to pick up a refrigerator when he was ambushed by ten masked, armed men. He was struck in the head, pulled from his vehicle, and robbed of his money, phone, bank cards, and van. The driver escaped through nearby bushes and sought help from a resident.
