The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is cautioning members of the public to avoid starting fires near its utility poles and wires to prevent dangerous situations.
The appeal came amid a bush fire in Portmore, St Catherine on Monday.
JPS said the blaze occurred in the vicinity of the Soapberry Wastewater Treatment Plant off Dyke Road in Portmore, causing four transmission poles to be damaged, as well as a section of a transmission line in the area.
