Violence and indiscipline in high-risk schools have declined since the installation of the School Oriented Policing Unit (SOPU), says Deputy Commissioner of Police Junior Benjamin.
Benjamin’s comment came in response to a statement made last Wednesday by National Parent Teacher Association head Walter Stewart on TV6’s Morning Edition, in which he said that incidents of school violence and indiscipline remained too high despite SOPU’s presence.
DCP Benjamin, who heads SOPU, told the Express in a phone interview yesterday that principals had reported a reduction in indiscipline and violence at the high-risk schools.
