Gunfire shattered the calm of Valsayn on Monday night and again yesterday afternoon in two separate incidents—a home invasion and police killing—leaving residents shaken and fearful that criminality may be returning as the state of emergency (SoE) is set to expire in ten days, on January 31, 2026.
The first incident occurred on Monday night in Valsayn South, where residents reported hearing about 12 gunshots.
A flurry of messages flooded community chat groups, and a private security detail which patrols parts of the wider area—though not the location where the incident occurred—indicated that a home invasion had taken place.
