DESPITE the recent proclamation of stricter laws governing the use of fireworks, members of the public appear largely unconcerned or unaware of their existence as the widespread and unlawful use continues across the country.
Police in various divisions have confirmed that even though the amended laws have been in place since their proclamation on December 19, there seems to be little difference in the number of fireworks that are usually discharged during this time of the year.
They admitted that enforcing some aspects of the new regulations has been challenging, just as in the past, noting that after fireworks are discharged, especially in the streets, there is often no evidence left to identify the culprit.
