Two sisters, ages 26 and 31, were reportedly injured following a shooting incident on Monday at West Front Road, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown. Police stated that the two sisters were seated along West Front Road when an altercation ensued between them and a 48-year-old security guard of Bent Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown. During the altercation, the security officer reportedly discharged several rounds from a firearm that was in his possession, thus resulting in the 26-year-old woman receiving gunshot injuries to her left ankle and upper left leg, while the 31-year-old woman received gunshot injuries to her right foot and left leg. Both women were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where they were treated and admitted in stable condition.

The suspect, however, was subsequently contacted at a private hospital, where he was receiving medical attention for an injury he also received during the fight. Meanwhile, the firearm, which was identified as a licensed Glock 19 pistol, for which the security officer is the licensed firearm holder, was lodged along with two magazines containing a total of 27 live 9mm rounds of ammunition. Police confirm that one spent shell was also recovered at the scene. CCTV cameras were seen in the area and will be reviewed as investigations continue.
