In continued efforts to reduce serious crime and disrupt the illicit drug trade, the National Special Operations Unit (NSOU), under the leadership of ACP Criminal Division Richard Smith and supervision of Ag. ASP St. Clair, conducted two operations on Sunday, 5th October 2025, in the Central and Southern Divisions.
Between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., officers searched a residence on Abdool Avenue, off Cedar Hill Road, Claxton Bay, in the Couva Police Station district. With support from the TTPS K-9 Unit and acting on intelligence received, officers executed a warrant under Section 12 of the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2025.
During the search, officers seized approximately 118 grams of cannabis, with an estimated street value of TT$3,000. The 46-year-old unemployed resident was arrested for possession of cannabis and transported to the Couva Police Station. Investigations are ongoing.
