ONE month has passed since the United National Congress assumed office and Public Services Association (PSA) president Felisha Thomas has given the new administration a “gold star” for what she describes as a proactive and worker-focused start to governance.
The praise comes despite concerns raised in some sectors surrounding the feasibility of campaign promises, including a proposed 10% wage increase for public servants, and long-standing calls for legislative reform in Industrial Court relations.
Speaking during an interview with the Express yesterday at her Port of Spain office, Thomas said, “I think it’s too early to measure performance but so far what I’ve seen them doing, I would give them a gold star rating. They (UNC) came into office, they are holding the bull by its horns and they are doing what is necessary to ensure that citizens in this country are positively impacted, whether it is by way of creating jobs, whether it is by way of delivering on the promises they have given to not just workers, but the nation.”
