(Kaieteur News) – A transformer leak detected on Thursday led to five hours of power outage in Mabaruma.
In an emergency notice from the Mabaruma Power and Light Incorporated (MPL), the company said that, “A severe leak has been found on the main take-off transformer. To safely perform urgent repairs and protect the town’s power supply, the entire electrical grid will be shut down today between 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM.”
The company further informed its customers that its crew was already onsite and working safely and quickly to finalise the repairs so that power could be restored. MPL also apologised for any inconvenience the outage may have caused and thanked the customers for their patience.
