(Kaieteur News) – Residents of Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara, experienced a unscheduled power interruption on Monday after a streetlight came into contact with the electricity network, prompting emergency works by the Guyana Power and Light Incorporated (GPL).
According to GPL, the issue was caused by an object touching the network. An image shared by the company showed that the top portion of a streetlight was involved.
In an advisory posted on its Facebook page, GPL stated: “Dear Customers, please be advised that Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) will be conducting emergency works at Covent Garden to remove a threat that is coming into contact with the network.”
