A 28-year-old security officer was shot and killed while on duty at a gas station in Arouca early Saturday morning.

Dead is Minford Alick, also known as “Ming,” of Jokhan Trace, Carapo. Alick was employed with Eye Spy Security Services and was assigned to the NP Gas Station located at the corner of Eastern Main Road and Golden Grove Road.

Police said around 1:38 a.m., officers at the Arouca Police Station received a report of explosions heard near a nearby KFC outlet. First responders arrived at the scene about 10 minutes later and were directed by employees to the gas station compound a short distance away, where a man was lying on the ground.
