Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs Sean Sobers has disclosed that Venezuelan Ambassador Alvaro Sanchez Cordero presented no evidence to support claims made by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro that a group of men carrying “weapons of war” entered Venezuela from Trinidad and Tobago.
Furthermore, Sobers said there was also no evidence to substantiate claims by Venezuela’s Justice Minister, Diosdado Cabello, that a Trinidad and Tobago national, “Guis Kendell Jerome”, was involved in “terrorist activities”.
The minister emphasised that prior to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s warning to Venezuela last Thursday that Trinidad and Tobago was off-limits—diplomatic channels had already been activated in an effort to obtain information on the allegations.
